Vakrasana (Sitting Twist) helps realign the spine back to its natural state and relax the muscles of the spine. It gives a gentle squeeze on the abdomen, which works to massage the digestive organs, improving digestion and elimination. This pose also stretches and strengthens the back, while relaxing the hip joints.
Energetically, Vakrasana works on the Mooladhara (Root) and Swadhistana (Sacral) Chakras.
This pose is not for those with stomach ulcers, hernia and severe back pain.
