Standing Forward Bend, or Padahastasana/Uttanasana stretches the back and the hamstrings. This pose increases blood supply to the spine while strengthening it. The inverted nature of Standing Forward Bend increases blood supply to the brain, and on the energetic level makes it a relaxing and calming pose.
This pose is not recommended for those with serious back issues, sciatica or high blood pressure.
